8 Best Feng Shui Plants to create good energy, according to experts

Feng shui plants generate good energy in any space and, depending on where you place them, they can attract wealth, luck, love and much more.

With the beginning of each new year, we ask for and wish for health, wealth and good luck. And a good way to attract that positive energy into your home is through feng shui. Every room in the house needs living energy, according to Feng Shui expert Susan Chan, and Feng Shui plants are an easy and natural way to attract needed chi or positive energy. Placing these plants judiciously can help draw certain energies into the home, whether it’s attracting love through a plant with heart-shaped leaves or harnessing good luck and fortune by placing an upward-growing money plant.

Did you know…? A correct arrangement of furniture or the choice of certain colors influences our daily life. Erika Suberviola, interior designer and Feng Shui consultant, gives us the keys to living in harmony.

With all the time we spend at home, it’s particularly important to prioritize comfort in the bedroom, living room and work space you’ve set up at home, according to Lindsay Pangborn, garden expert at Bloomscape. Plants act as living decorations that add not only personality and color to a space, but also a touch of nature. “Plants have been shown to encourage and aid creativity, productivity and a positive outlook,” she says. And Pangborn doesn’t think this trend will go away anytime soon. “People are going to keep improving their homes and they’re going to do it with plants!”

We spoke with Feng Shui experts Anjie Cho and Susan Chan about choosing the best Feng Shui plants to attract wealth, love, health, and more. Here we have selected eight Feng Shui plants that aim to bring good energy into your home, they are affordable houseplants and houseplants that are hardy and easy to maintain and care for even in offices.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art for organizing buildings, objects, and spaces. Consider nature as a signal to find harmony and balance in an environment: Feng means wind and shui means water, according to Chan.

How to choose the best feng shui plants

Maintain the energy and harmony of a space with a plant with healthy, rounded leaves, not dry or pointed. Chan recommends plants that grow upwards, promoting the positive movement of energy. For example, bamboo grows quickly and easily, which translates to growth and prosperity in that area of your life, he says.

1 Pachira or money tree

The name of the money tree is actually derived from the practices of Feng Shui, which fosters the belief that it will bring positive energy and good luck to the owner of the plant and the house in which it is located, says Pangborn. This plant can thrive in indirect light, needs only occasional watering, and is great for small homes or rooms. According to Pangborn, its presence has also been said to reduce stress and anxiety.

Here you have all the necessary information to take care of the pachira.

2 Philodendron

With fast-growing, easy-care vines, the popular philodendron is a well-suited Feng Shui plant for channeling love. Its heart-shaped leaves can help activate the marriage and relationship area in the home, according to Cho. For added effect… “a pair of complementary plants can emphasize an even and balanced partnership,” she says.

3 Pothos

Pothos are excellent air purifiers, perfect for the most forgotten corners of the house, like on top of a kitchen cupboard or in the bathroom. They tend to grow long, bushy vines that make them very decorative indoor hanging plants. For the careless gardener, these plants are very easy to maintain. According to Cho, they are excellent plants for beginners. They are one of the easiest Feng Shui plants to care for and their soft, rounded leaves promote serenity and harmony.

4 Jade plant

In feng shui practices, jade plants represent good luck and good fortune due to the plant’s round leaves. Pangborn recommends jade plants because they thrive in sunny areas and need little watering.

5 Calathea

Thanks to their striped and colorful leaves, these plants are beautiful in any corner and bring vitality to the house. However, the calathea requires a bit more maintenance than other houseplants. They need moisture but not saturation, and do not tolerate periods of drought. Wilted or dying plants can invite negative chi, so make sure you care for your calathea properly. It is an excellent indoor air purifier and will reward you with stunning leaf coloration.

6 Lucky Bamboo

Encourage personal growth and positive energy with lucky bamboo. Bamboos in water can reach heights of about 40 cm. It does not need direct sunlight, making it an excellent choice for office decoration.

Here you have all the information so that your lucky bamboo grows healthy and beautiful.

7 Sansevieria or snake plant

This houseplant is a real charmer: its two-tone design adds a splash of color to a space while its upward growth promotes good chi. A member of the succulent family, the snake plant is very hardy: it can tolerate low light and drought!

8 Ficuses

If you’re looking for a small indoor tree for feng shui, the thick, shiny leaves of the elastic ficus may fulfill your wishes. Its gently curved blades can soften high-traffic areas of the home. This tropical plant needs water, so water frequently to keep the soil moist. And remember that you need light.

Here you have more information on how to maintain and care for ficuses.
