All in one: Living room, Dining room and Kitchen

Communicating the living room with the kitchen and dining room and achieving an open, modern space with personality is possible. This room project demonstrates it.

This is the proposal of the architects of the room, Sandra Rodríguez, and Rebeca Campo, to achieve a unified, modern, functional, and very personal space. It is a living room connected to the dining room and the kitchen or a kitchen open to the living room or an environment with several areas that also manage to integrate the hall.

Whichever way you look at it, the interior design project for this apartment on Calle Menorca in Madrid has a different air. A diaphanous and spacious room is achieved with functional furniture and under the creative prism of color, light, and expression.

The starting point was a blank canvas. The decoration has nods to the cinema, also a Nordic air and a vintage touch, thanks to a Soviet fan that the owners wanted to keep. Also playing a role was the sentimental value of a painting of the Italian coast, the place where the owners were married.

The result is worth seeing: a single room where details matter, materials are mixed and the strength of yellow illuminates and warms the room.

The seating area: seats

A gray upholstered sofa with wooden armrests and legs and a yellow armchair are the seats in the living area.

Sandra Rodríguez and Rebeca Campo, from the RdeRoom studio, lit up the living room with a cinema-inspired spotlight. It is the Film lamp.

light coffee tables

As center tables, a couple of nesting tables, which are very light.

An aquamarine crocheted pouf

A pouf completes the seating area and the colors go perfectly with a duo of cheerful paintings that dress the wall. Two huge vintage letters G and P, the initials of the names of the owners of the house.

Passage area

The dining room is located between the living room and the kitchen, in a “passage area”, which is why light furniture has been chosen, although delimited by a rug.

Light pieces that decorate and delimit

The Vinti table has light lines with a glass top and black lacquered metal legs. The chairs are the Bertoia model.

The kitchen

In the kitchen, RdeRoom customized the bar that already existed when they took over the project. A cantilevered bar was designed and the area was completed with several stools, all in natural wood.

The idea of the bar was that it could also be used for work but it is perfect for breakfast or a drink while the cook finishes the dish in the kitchen.

The kitchen, also integrated in the hall

The kitchen, open to the room, is also integrated into the hall since it is the first room in the house that you find when you enter.

In white with hints of color

Above the bar and in a kitchen where total white predominates, three small mint green lacquered metal ceiling lamps. They are sold in the RdeRoom store.

The TV is installed on the wall, which serves the living room and dining room. In this shot you can see the view from this corner towards the hall.

Coat racks at the entrance

The entrance is completed with a playful combination of black-wood button coat racks from Bloomingville, perfect for leaving your coat or bag, which also turns into a pretty and cheerful pattern of dots when they are empty.

The hall

The entrance is organized around a creative and elegant composition with light furniture as the main element as a console, combined with a mirror and a collage of paintings.

A piece of furniture that adds style

The furniture is made of mango wood with a natural finish and iron feet. A rustic chic and industrial touch at the same time, very well fitted.

Touches of color in accessories

On the console several vases, yellow, from the firm Broste, and aquamarine, from ‘Bloomingville.

A collage on the wall

Leaning on the wall and on the cabinet is a large mirror. Around the composition several paintings and sheets of different sizes and frames.

I am fond of design and repairs for the last 4 years. For this, I managed to learn a lot of nuances of repair, which I want to share here. I also love to create and make collections of ideas for inspiration.
