A well-placed mirror can be a powerful asset to any room. Mirrors are known for making a space appear larger and more open, but they can also be used to distribute light, emphasize adjacent colors or artwork on the walls, and liven up rooms without windows.

With a little ingenuity, you can create attractive and pocket-friendly mirrors. You can transform these simple, easy-to-find items into custom accent pieces to suit your home. If you are looking for cheap and easy ideas for decorating mirrors, here are 3 easy and beautiful ideas.

Decoration of mirrors with paper

What we are going to do next is nothing more and nothing less than a mirror decorated with paper; yes, although it seems hard to believe, this beautiful decoration is just a simple paper mirror that any of us can make in our home.

Step by Step

1) You will need a sheet of paper or paper towel to make the mold and then you will begin to make several identical figures, but on cardboard. The mold consists of a fold in the middle and then with scissors it is cut from both sides to generate a point.

2) If you cut the folded cardstock, the tip of both sides will be even, since you will be cutting them at the same time.

You must make several petals of one size, then others of a shorter length and finally some smaller ones.

3) Having already made all the petals, we go to the mirror. It can be any size you think is convenient, depending on what you are looking for. For example, if it is large, the decoration will look like a flower or a sunflower plant. Otherwise, if it is small, its function as a mirror may go unnoticed and simply function as a decorative element. What we do recommend is that it be circular.

4) Then, the mirror should be turned around and with a pencil and why not with the help of a compass, mark where each white point will be placed. Following this step, you should start gluing with vinyl glue, starting with the smallest tips and ending with the largest ones. If you are not in a hurry, we recommend letting each layer of cardboard dry before placing the next.

And finally your mirror decorated with paper will be finished and ready to be hung on a wall in the home.

Rustic mirror

Rustic decoration is almost a devotion for many and every element that integrates the house, they want it to follow the same trend. That is why today we will show you how to make a rustic mirror.

Of course, the mirror is bought at any glass store at a more than affordable cost, choosing a rectangular shape to facilitate the work. Wood can be obtained from old buildings; this is the one that looks best because it already has the worn look of the years, but if they can’t be ordered at a carpentry.

The idea is that the pieces of wood have an aged appearance, and that they be given a coat of varnish before joining them.

To join them, special nails are used, very small and easy to handle. If you want to secure the joint, you can add an “L” shaped metal rod at each angle.

In order for the mirror to be attached, ask the carpentry shop to make slits on the back of the wood, a little thicker than the mirror, so that the mirror can be fitted and fastened with small rods.

Having done this, you can add two metal hooks on the wooden frame, at the back, which will work to hang the mirror.

Measure the distance between one and the other in order to place the nails well in the wall.

Finally, hang the rustic mirror and the work will be finished. Simple and cheaper than buying one in a store.
