However, there are certain foolproof tricks that will allow you to add those XL plants that you keep seeing on Instagram, without making the space look cluttered and without ending up feeling like George of the jungle, from vine to vine.

These are some of the large plants that you can put inside the house:

  1. The kentia is the palm that is most used to decorate interiors, along with the areca. The kentia is a variety that does not require much light, is resistant and is characterized by its elegance. With minimal care we can enjoy it for many years.
  2. The areca works to improve the air, eliminates toxic elements from the environment while providing moisture through water evaporation. The atmosphere inside the house will be more pure and fresh.
  3. Bamboo is a tropical plant of oriental origin, it belongs to the Poaceae family, it grows very fast and there are countless varieties. It does very well both outside and inside the house.
  4. The aralia is perfect for slightly dark houses or for the darkest areas of the house since it can do well without much natural light. It is an undemanding variety that does not need much water, in fact the soil should be slightly dry.
  5. The schefflera is a very malleable plant that allows you to obtain the desired silhouette by pruning the leaves and even whole branches, as if it were a bonsai. Watering must be regular without flooding the soil. It should be placed in a warm place with natural light, it has no problems with direct sunlight.
  6. The monstera: Also known as the Adam’s Rib, it is a climbing species, originating in the Tropics, so it has a very accelerated growth when it has the perfect conditions for its development.

1 Bamboo

Bamboos belong to the grass family and there are many different varieties. Having a very extensive root system, they are plants that can colonize large areas.

2 Aralia

Polyscias or aralias are decorative and resistant plants thanks to their thick-stemmed branches. Leaves can be round or heart-shaped and often with a jagged wavy edge. With the necessary care and expanding the pot from time to time, it can reach up to a meter and a half in height.

3 Kentia

The kentia must be watered every 3 or 4 days in summer and twice a month in winter; Be careful with waterlogging, it is one of your worst enemies. It is preferable to spray water on the leaves and not to overwater the root ball.

4 Areca

For its correct growth, it is advisable to eliminate the leaves that are dry, as it will help new ones to sprout more easily. It is also a plant that usually has a lot of root volume, so it will have to be transferred to larger pots as it grows. It needs regular waterings of warm water and frequent spraying during the summer months. It should be located near natural light, but without direct sun.

5 Schefflera

The schefflera tends to accumulate abundant dust between its leaves, which is why it greatly appreciates a cool shower as if it were a fine spring rain.

6 Monstera

Take care that it does not have direct light on the leaves and, in winter, never display it outdoors. It is advisable to schedule abundant watering, which is doubled in summer, when temperatures are higher.

7 Ficus

It is the official tree of Bangkok and can reach 30m in height under natural conditions.

8 Croton

The croton is native to Asia, where it grows wild to become a bush several meters tall. The range of colors and shapes of the leaves is due to the ease it has to cross with other plants. It needs moist soil in summer and spring, but without being waterlogged, and substrate in the growing season. Light is fundamental, without it the leaves would lose their color.

9 Zamioculca

It is of African origin, so it tolerates drought, and reaches up to 70 cm in height in its natural habitat. It supports temperatures above 80ºC, but the cold does not do well. Try to make the soil dry, at the top, between watering and watering.

10 Cassava

Originally from Central America, the cassava belongs to the agavaceae family and its most used variety and interior is the so-called elephant foot.

11 Camadorea

It resists any light condition splendidly, although the ideal is to place it in a corner with partial lighting, never direct (since the leaves can turn yellowish).
